The ARPG elements are minimal and there's very little bloat
The voice acting is pretty good, with great distinctive middle eastern dialects
Unapproachable as an entry point into the series despite being a prequel
Frame rate issues on the PS5 in the strangest of places
Combat is bland and everything can won with brute force
There's about four memorable characters in the entire game

Spectacular sets
Ingenious and spectacular stealthy
The artificial intelligence of the enemies is sometimes not excellent.

Atmosphere, characters, and gameplay worthy of the first chapter.
Technically flawless.
Some predictable narrative outcomes
It is not "small", but it could have been "bigger".

Returning and enhanced stealth gameplay

Main quests that are entertaining, and side quests that are just as engaging.
Stunning designs both for the characters and the environments they inhabit.

Basim is a very interesting character.
Scary soundtrack.
Enemy artificial intelligence to be reviewed.
The Anvil engine would need a refresh.

Story Convoluted

The Right Length
Well Told Story
Incredible Soundtrack
Story Is Better With Prior Content Knowledge

The affordable lifespan
The story is quite captivating.
The "old-school" gameplay
The price
Some bugs

Often original missions, not just the main ones.
The map is large enough to provide stimuli for exploration but not too much to be boring.
Combat system so simple that it becomes almost irrelevant.

Historical detail is on point as always and looking incredible
Decent amount of content that doesn't outstay its welcome
Main missions could have used more scenario variety
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

The refocusing on infiltration.
A more condensed and controlled adventure
The Concentration power of Assassin, out of context
Some mishaps here and there
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Fun climbing and stealth mechanics that the series is known for
More compact story only takes about 20 hours to beat
Ending feels contrived

Stealth Feels Important Again
Great Open-Ended Assassination Missions
No Greater Story Beats Touched Upon
Please, Ubisoft, No More Tailing Missions

The open world's design is helped massively by its more condensed scope
A tried-and-true collection of stealth tools and abilities, used in a way that's consistently fun
Well-designed stealth objectives and arenas, especially in black box missions
Proper parkour makes a glorious return, and remains fun throughout the game
Looks gorgeous.
Sluggish combat
Characters' faces don't look great
Some might be disappointed by its lack of originality.

A captivating story, full of twists and generally well staged.
Almost every mission is completely secret, resolved through open combat or a combination of the two.
Very generous open-world offer that never becomes a boring chore.
Low potential for frustration, as no mission can automatically fail regardless of the approach.
An elegant presentation with a lively and densely populated medieval metropolis.
countless references (including gameplay mechanics) to the early installments of the series.
Superb, atmospheric soundtrack
Stealthy and action-packed paths, with sometimes implausible mechanisms.
"Opportunities" rarely lead to completely different mission outcomes.
The speakers of the guards and other NPCs often repeat themselves (German version).

Discretion regains its former glory...
Revisited and improved features (Eagle Vision, tools...)
An incredible soundtrack that transports us.
? even if the recipe is always the same
The tokens, depriving us of certain choices.

A well-crafted and immersive story.
Enjoyable infiltration sentences
The well-designed investigation system
An impressive reconstruction of Baghdad
A sweeter price (50 ?)
Additional content of little interest.
Facial animations, dated and rigid.
Messy hand-to-hand combat
The AI of the enemies is at ground level.

Finally, a humanly feasible Open World for the common people.
Pre-assassination investigation mechanisms
The oriental atmosphere of the first AC
Baghdad is visually stunning.
The true comeback of infiltration.
An initiatory story in the style of Ezio Auditore.
Fantastic music
A very good French dubbing.
Farming is mandatory given the price of crafting.
15 hours of straight online lifespan
Visually lackluster NPCs
Sometimes a somewhat risky parkour
The Assassin Concentration breaks immersion.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Environmental attacks and diversions

Interesting characters
Very good synchronization.

The main quests cannot be completed in the predetermined order.
Few new features

Few facial expressions.
Sometimes, a very stupid AI.

No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Its level design is surprising and creative.
Great soundtrack and sublime dubbing in Spanish.
It requires a fix to eliminate its numerous bugs and errors.
In terms of graphics, it is very far behind compared to what Ubisoft can offer.

Baghdad is visually stunning and beautiful to explore.
Carefully maintained in the history of historical sites.
Fluctuating narratively
I am not very impressive as a protagonist.

Still lots to do
Nice environments
Lots of bugs
Basim is dull
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Solid and convincing technical field, although with some limitations.
Disappointing close combat fights
Underestimated enemies

Best parkour gameplay in years.
Iconic soundtrack
Tales of Baghdad
Greater attention to discretion...
The story has been on hold for a long time.
Decrease in quality in Quality mode
Boring combat system
The quality of voting work is variable.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

A successful return to its roots by Ubisoft.
A story that brings a real conflict to the forefront.
A gameplay that lightens up.
Quests and missions related to the Brotherhood of Assassins.
OSTs in line with the universe.
We do not scatter around the world.
A reasonable price for a lifespan that is just as long.
Is there a pleasant city in Baghdad to explore?
A camera that is restless.
Several bugs
A lack of involvement from studios in terms of graphics and technical aspects.
Characters who lack work

Baghdad is gorgeous at times
Ties in great with the universe
Basim is not as interesting if you haven't played Valhalla
Lots of tedium in stealth sections
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

The platform is and remains a crazy pleasure.
The strong focus on stealth offers enjoyable gameplay.
Relatively short and targeted experience.
Softer prices
Superficial characters bring the story down.
Screen tearing
The battle is the weak little brother.
The specter of déjà vu constantly lurks around the corner.

A magnificent city of Baghdad.
No absurd quests
A very enriching codex.
A true story...
Some technical bugs
Too much stealth

Short game allowing to quickly reach the end
Sympathetic infiltration quests.
An exceptional soundtrack.
Few varieties of enemies
the story, in the background
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
Back to basics
Clunky controls
Unlikable characters

"???????????" translates to "compressed" in English. "????? ??????? ???????????" translates to "properly delivered content".
AI inevitably makes the game quite easy.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Sublime settings
Twisted (yet enjoyable) level design
An interface that becomes more flexible
Too many visual defects and optimization issues.
An AI still incompetent.

Very decent lifespan for the price.
Baghdad, a beautiful city with many secrets.
Equipment management: a true return to basics
Discretion much more emphasized
The musical compositions, superb
A reasonable launching price.
Possible save transfer between all game versions.
The various accessibility options
The Unstable Realism mode on PS5.
The Ubisoft Anvil engine struggling with facial animations.
Some technical issues (textures, clipping, collision problems?)
Disappointing French voices.
AI always lagging behind
[7/10] reviewed at 04/10/2023 - TEST | Assassin's Creed Mirage : dernière danse à Bagdad pour les fans [read the full review on JVFrance]

Baghdad looks and sounds great
Social stealth is here again
Good voice acting
Some classic old school AC control issues
Tokens are annoying to track down
Barred doors are worst than the Order of the Ancients

Nehal and Roshan are great characters
Zero performance issues on PS5 or PC
Cross save worked seamlessly for PS5 and PC
Exceptional prologue and ending
Great deep dive into Basim's origins
Still fun stabbing folk from above
Tools are neat if you don't want to work hard
Fails to create a detailed open world to spend time in
Nehal and Roshan lose too much screen time
The investigation board feels pointless in execution
Doesn't improve the series' core gameplay mechanics
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Overarching story is intriguing
A basic but fun gameplay loop
Smooth parkour mechanics
Doesn't outstay its welcome
Some great music
A return to traditional Assassin's Creed
Combat never evolves
Braindead AI at times
Some bad screen tearing in busy areas
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

The infiltration remains pleasant.
A more measured adventure
Baghdad and its surroundings are pleasant to explore.
Are the appendices abyssal?
"Free roam" is still very much improvable.

Baghdad is dense and bustling.
Stealth is back.
Effective and heavy combat
No clutter of icons on the map.
Rigid dubbing
Repetitive and unstimulating game
Stupid enemy AI
Powerful skills tree
Lack of tool variety
Lack of regional diversity on the map.

Stealth gameplay and a return to the roots of Assassin's Creed are welcome
There's little reason to care for the characters
The story is a glaring weakness

The city of Baghdad, splendid.
A solid soundtrack
The small price (49?)
An ultra-simplified gameplay
Very repetitive in its progression.
The disastrous AI of the enemies
A disappointing achievement

Back to the origins of the assassins
Poorly executed fights

Good emphasis on stealth over face-to-face sword-swinging action
The sense of danger and feeling like a marked man is well-realized
Classic Assassin?s Creed without the charisma
Forgettable story, characters and dialogue

Comfort food for AC fans
Barely any new ideas
Awful voice-acting and bad writing in parts
Combat remains dull

The stealth focus is welcome
The combat is a solid addition from the new games, if a little too easy
Baghdad is an interesting and pretty setting
The parkour works well
Enemy respawns damage the stealth aspect
The writing is poor, especially Basim's dialogue
The notoriety system remains unwelcome
AI isn't the smartest
