Le New Game
+ qui apporte de la nouveauté et une vraie difficulté
Certains timings sont durs à respecter et il n?y a pas de calibrage
La durée de vie en ligne droite pour un jeu solo à ce prix en 2023

[86/100] reviewed at 28/11/2023 - Análisis Super Mario RPG. Un remake en forma de deseo hecho realidad, ¡localizado y con asperezas limadas! [read the full review on NextN]

His hilarious sense of humor and his brilliant translation into Spanish.
As a remake, it hits right in the visuals. It is a beautiful game.
The combat system, although fun, suffers from excessive simplicity.
To be an RPG, it is a very short game. The new content after the end of the game could have been more developed.

The characters have a lot of charisma.
The dialogues are very entertaining.
The soundtrack is incredible.
Playably, it holds up well.
This can become repetitive in certain longer parts.

Great core game that has held up
Excellent sense of humour throughout
Some parts can be confusing

An artistic direction that delights the eyes.
The slightly improved combat system
The orchestral OST by Yoko Shimomura (
+ the presence of an audio player)
Finally, a French translation.
Some post-game additions for fighting game enthusiasts.
Unfortunately, still far too short.

The lines and humor that we loved in the original game are back (almost) intact.
Several QoL additions needed.
Improved and faster combat.
Post-game content that is intended to interest a portion of the players...
Translation into English:
Transfer of content intact, without any changes or surprises in the map and gameplay.
The Breeze mode helps less experienced players, but it significantly reduces the duration and overall experience of the game.

Several improvements that make the gameplay more enjoyable.
The freshness of certain mechanics is still tangible today.
The overall difficulty, already low in itself, is almost non-existent.
The extras are ultimately negligible.

Perfectly-Remastered Soundtrack
Novel Limit Break/Chain Mechanics
Fun Added Cut Scenes
Nostalgia Overload
Capped Inventory

He manages to maintain the retro essence while presenting a current product.
They adapted it so that everyone could enjoy it.
Many beautiful Easter eggs
He was missing a difficult mode that would simulate the experience of the original game.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

The attacks of that time have a greater impact.
Magnificent orchestral soundtrack

nice look
humorous German localization
many riddles and mini-games
for adults and children
The main story could be longer.
no vocal output
The characters sometimes remain quite superficial.

All the new features manage to make the game more modern without altering its "old school" essence.
High-quality graphics and sound
For the first time - finally - localized in Italian.
A third level of difficulty for the most daring players would have been appreciated.

High-quality intermediate sequences
Pleasantly complex turn-based combat system with action elements.
Great boss battles and a wide variety of awesome special techniques.
Various application domains
"Relaxed" game mode for beginners
There are hardly any major innovations in terms of content.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Comfortable and approachable battle system
Vibrantly charming world and characters
The music, good lord
Frustrating minigames
A little too reverent for its own good

Mushroom Kingdom looks fantastic
A short, snappy story makes a nice change from many RPG timesinks
Fairly tame in the face of modern party-based games

The new art style and cinematics are delightful
All the good things from the original are here
It's very easy to get lost and frustrated
All the bad things from the original are here

Visual glow-up is just gorgeous
Clever tweaks to combat bring it to the modern era
Linear story, kind of short, and kind of easy

A carefully rearranged soundtrack
A gameplay faithful to the original, with subtle improvements.
Adding special enemies for an extra challenge.
Suitable for both new players and fans of the original.
New features that make the game easier.
The absence of voice dubbing which may seem outdated.

Great new visual style
+
Smart tweaks to combat
+
Still funny and charming
Story can feel disjointed
-
Not as robust as other Mario RPGs
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

The new game mechanics rejuvenate and refresh the original.
We think of less experienced players, but also of the most skilled and experienced players with RPGs.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Tastefully remade graphics in 3D and faithfully remade gameplay
Post game rematch boss battles and new equipment
Fun minigames and old secrets are still present and accounted for
Yoko Shimomura's new arrangements of her class music is excellent
The memory game at the casino is a poor substitute for blackjack
Level cap is still only 30 and the overal game is very short for RPG standards
100 super jumps is still unbelievably difficult

"There are so many secrets here..."
Square-Enix produces a role-playing game of its own...
Excellent additions (difficulty, bestiary...)
Excellent location
"... many of them drive people crazy"
... but the conventions of the genre are rigid.

No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.

Colorful and diverse visuals
Sumptuous cinematics
A classic and efficient turn-based combat system.
Different game phases bringing diversity.
The omnipresent humor
Some extremely punitive phases without reason.
A bit short nonetheless.
The lack of dubbing for the cutscenes

Crazy humor
Improvements aimed at rejuvenating gameplay
This means "He is still a little old" in English.
A somewhat weak narrative

Great upbeat music
A charming cast
Cute reimagined visuals
No significant content added

A high-paced RPG
Essential but solid game.
There are still some drawbacks inherited from the original.

The efficient gameplay further enhanced by this remake.
Visually and musically very convincing.
A good entry point into the RPG genre.
For the first time in French.
The platform is still not very pleasant.
Visually sometimes uneven

The fights, simple but very clever.
The new attacks in trio.
The comfort options (loading, saving...)
A Super Mario RPG in French!
A style that will not please everyone.
Some slight slowdowns.
Sometimes a little "too" faithful to the original?

Unique and Classic enemies
Challenging end-game

Also suitable for beginner video game players.
Carefree and always perfectly capable of having fun.
Some may even find it too easy and simple.

Technically successful in its environments and lighting.
An effective reorchestration of the music for the most part.
The optional original soundtrack
A dynamic combat system that is always fun.
Very good localization in French language.
A struggling frame rate
Some failed musical tracks
The timing of perfect orders, always difficult to grasp.

Some visual ideas that work well...
A light and sometimes amusing writing...
The completely lunar bestiary and its varied patterns.
A cult adventure finally accessible in French.
The post-game is pretty cool.
Several puzzles a bit tricky
? But an achievement that could have aimed much higher.
? But a story that is not memorable.
Life span a little too thin
The isometric view that complicates the platform phases.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
Delightful new cinematics
Excellent music
More approachable combat
Archaic platforming
Easy, to a fault
Classic square RPG with a Nintendo frosting.
very faithful adaptation of the original
beautiful orchestrated soundtrack
Real-time combat system with tournament components
some significant modernizations of the combat system
wonderfully light and carefree action
a lot of humor
an arsenal of side quests and mini-games
perfectly suited for beginners of the genre
very good German localization
no difficult mode optional
incomprehensible stuttering (rare) during certain camera movements
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
Combat is fresh and fun, adding several improvements
Great cast and characters to interact with
A wonderful rearrangement by Yoko Shimomura
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
A simple story, but inherent to the series.
Combat animations
Great introduction to RPG
Phase of the platform not intuitive
Very few choices regarding equipment.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
A beautiful graphic upgrade.
A somewhat old school RPG.
A steady progress
Various environments
Lack a bit of secondary content.
We can still feel a little bit of the original game behind it.
