New characters feel unique enough to make playthroughs novel
More units are always a boon
Seriously, new asymmetric mechanics are always great when done well like this
As novel as it tries to be, it still has that permeating, familiar 3K sense of "This looks different, but it's actually still the same"

Even more detailed stories to go through with improved emergent storytelling
Interesting new mechanics (zeal, fervour and influence) with certain new factions
A large amount of extra new content in the shape of units
Diplomacy is still a little stupid and is particularly worse in the case of the Yellow Turbans where you can only open ties with fellow Turbans (which technically you're the leader of)
Beautiful aesthetics and soundtrack
Battles are still wonderfully animated - watching masses of soldiers collide never gets old
New mechanics like Imperial Court and Zeal/Fervour allow for some interesting playthroughs
Deployables aren't all that appealing from the outset
Zeal and Fervour feel somewhat unbalanced
Combat is still more or less the same despite addition of new units
Unexceptional as a whole
